FULL NAME.
ALIAS.
death's master -- grim earned this name by destroying three villages in one week. he massacred almost every person in the villages, and the fortunate surviors happened to be the law-abiding and completely sane citizens. they named him "death's master" after his valiant deed and obvious control over the life and death of the people around him. plus they thought he looked like ther personaification of death with his black hair and red eyes.
grim reaper -- this wasn't ever grim's real name. he adopted this after being found in the rumble of an abandoned building. everything was falling around him, and his body was torn to pieces. his skin had taken on an ashen quality, and his eyes looked like blood. his overall appearance made him look like death's messenger which is how the grim reaper is often portrayed. thus grim's saviors dubbed him this. he is often referred to by "reaper" though. "grim" is often used by those that grim actually likes.[/ul]

WEAPONS.
storage -- the majestic sword belonging to grim is housed within this box. grim actually doesn’t keep the sword in the box often, but he uses it for traveling purposes. once he has settled in an area, the blackette takes to wearing the sword in a sheath strapped across his broad back. this sword is known as “demone draco” after the dragon head with the ruby eyes that makes up the hilt of the sword. the sword itself is long and slender. the hilt is in the shape of a dragon whose tail keeps the sword blade connected to the hilt. the dragon’s mouth is open in a silent roar, and grim has been known to feed flames through the mouth to give the dragon the appearance of breathing fire. this was another tokugawa family heirloom that nora took with him from sotoba village. nora was the one to give the majestic sword to the seventeen year old grim, and girm hasn’t let go of it since. this weapon is one with girm, and sometimes the blackette finds it hard to adjust to different swords. this storage box can only be opened by grim’s demone leone ring.
extra -- the sheath for grim’s famous sword isn’t just some plain ordinary thing, but grim doesn’t keep the two in the same box. the sheath is actually a very convenient storage item. small hollows dot the inside of the sheath, and it is actually quite bigger than it seems. the sheath itself is black with red flames dancing across the surface. white skulls also stare unblinkingly from their place on the black cloth. grim only has this out when his sword is out, and the box can only be opened by the demone leone ring.[/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote]
[/i] -- grim has a strange addiction to swords, but he feels that a sword is just an extension of his arm. he has never had any trouble fighting with swords, and he has come to love the familiar feel to them. he can wrap a hand around a sword hilt and feel instantly more at ease. something about swords as a familiar flair to them that grim just relishes in. his addiction to them actually makes more than enough sense if you know what kind of things the death master has been though, so it wouldn’t be strange to see his sword addiction as endearing… in the twisted way.LIKES.
fighting -- this is grim’s life-threatening addiction. it might be better to say that he enjoys pain, but he isn’t that masochistic. he is fighting to try and regain his memories as he thinks that he lost them due to an unremembered confrontation. he earliest memories are of pain and monotone voices. he knows that he was found by a group of villagers, but he has never been able to figure out what caused his memory loss. the doctors then had told him that he hit a boulder with the back of his head with enormous force which lead to his memory loss, but grim doesn’t know why he hit the boulder. aside from his battle thirst, grim also likes fighting because he feels it brings him closer to regaining his memories.
medical books -- these make the world bearable for grim at times. he woke up with a need to know everything that was wrong with him, and he immediately began trying to figure out how to fix those things. he recognizes deep down that he has always had a passion for medicine and helping people, but he enjoys hurting them just as much. this makes him the biggest hypocrite alive, and he knows it. grim can be found on his off-hours with a medical text or two with him, and he can always be found that way. he tends to have a textbook or two on him at all times including when he is on dangerous missions or working at his part-time job in namimori.
silence -- what better time than to enjoy books in silence? grim doesn’t care for peace, but he enjoys silence. he loves the early mornings when nothing is moving yet and the world is covered by a blanket of silence. he dearly enjoys sitting outside and reading his medical texts then. he tends not to find a soundless moment once the day has began, and he loves just wasting those few hours of blissful silence. he wishes that more of them existed.
children -- surprisingly, grim has a soft spot for children. he treats mainly children at his part-time job, and he is incredibly protective of any child that he meets. this also draws from his unknown past. grim often saw shiki as a child, and he was the hero of the children in his village. he has always been looking out for those younger than him, and he instinctively knows this. this makes children all the more endearing for grim though he tries not to let it show. he often has lollipops on him for any child that he happens to meet and talk too.[/ul]
DISLIKES.
blondes -- another strange aversion, but this one actually makes quite a bit of sense. grim can’t recall his childhood companion, shiki, but shiki had fine blonde hair. shiki was also the one that grim watched kill nora, but before that the blackette had been developing feelings for his blonde “brother.” he doesn’t understand why his heart aches sometimes when he sees willowy blonde haired, blue eyed strangers; but it does. it aches so badly that grim often goes out and drinks the night away. he tends to forget about his pain until he runs into another person that reminds him faintly of a boy he can’t recall.
commands -- a stubborn fool are often the words to describe grim, so it only makes sense that he doesn’t like to take commands. grim hates any type of command as that means the person has power over him, and he challenges anyone with power to a duel. commands mean little to him, but he hates when someone tries to order him around. he can be quite terrifying when someone decides that grim needs to do something. grim doesn’t take kindly at all to being order around, so it is best not to try unless you know it is possibly for you to beat him in a fight. he might listen then, or he might just walk away with a wounded pride.
lectures -- never one to sit still for long, lectures are like torture for grim. as mentioned, grim is never one to just sit still and listen. he has to be doing something, and he himself hates giving lectures. he doesn’t like anything about him. lectures are essentially just listening to one person ramble on about something, and they can never hold grim’s attention long enough to get their point across. grim prefers short, quick conversations and long, drawn-out, bloody fights. nothing more and nothing less.
smoke -- this dislike isn’t quite as strange as grim makes it out to be. grim can’t recall the day his village went up in flames, but he was kept in the cellar for a few hours after the fire had started. smoke had managed to make its way through the gaps of the cellar door, and the young blackette had been subjected to the smell for a few long hours. nora saved him, but grim still developed a fear of fire and an intense dislike of the smell of smoke. as grim can’t remember this event, he tends to just think that he is allergic to the smell or something like that.[/ul]
FEARS.
limited -- limited refers to many things, yet only a select few things at the same time. grim doesn’t fear limited control, but he definitely doesn’t like it. he does fear limited space though. grim spent so many hours that one fateful day locked away in the cellar that he became quite afraid of closed in spaces. he couldn’t do anything except wait. he can’t remember it at all now, but the feelings still remain imprinted within his mind. grim is terrified of being locked in a confined space, and his reaction tends to border on hysterical when he is forced into large crowds. it irks him to no end not being able to remember, but he would rather not be so adversely affected than know. this fear is probably his most well known fear.
loosing -- this like the above fear could mean a variety of things, but girm is afraid of loosing the people he holds close to his heart. his entire village was ripped away from him, and then he watched his crush kill the person that had saved him from an early death. those were both horrifying experiences for the blackette, and he recognizes the value of the people around him. grim has been known to breakdown when one of his closer comrades’ lose their life. he would probably go into a two month long depression if someone extremely close to him was lost to him, and it would be even worse if he found the person to be his lover or a sibling-like figure. grim fears loosing someone again even though he can’t recall his earlier experiences with the feeling. the deep fear can make his blood run cold at times, and he hates that as well.[/ul]
DREAMS.
destructive -- grim has always been a very destructive, violent person. he destroys things almost as often as he fixes them, and he enjoys the thrills of battle and the call of blood. grim often indulges in the art of killing and swordplay, and his other dream happens to revolve around his own selfish desire to track down the shadows that his mind often plays out in his mind. he can see a willowy blonde’s figure cast in shadows, he can see a shadowed couple standing next to a wooden sign that reads “tokugawa clinic,” and he can see a tall man’s form. he can’t name any of them, and he would like to meet them. he would also like to destroy the barriers set around his memory, so this dream really has nothing to do with death. it deals with regain the memories that grim lost only three years ago.[/ul]
ABILITIES.
FULL PERSONALITY.
impatient -- grim has never been one to sit and wait for things to happen. he has to be actively doing something, and he tends to let a majority of his time get taken up by fighting or books. he could care less about society, but that is also because he doesn’t want to meet anyone that remembers him. he would feel unbelievably guilty if he ever meet anyone that used to know him. he can’t remember them anymore after all, and grim can’t just sit still and wait for something like that to happen. he keeps himself busy to keep his thoughts from wandering. plus keeping active tends to keep him from getting fidgety as well, and his temperament is often much better when he keeps himself busy.
stubborn -- grim doesn’t like to back down or take orders. he never has, and he used to be known as the stubborn mule of his hometown. this wasn’t a recent development from his memory loss, but he has become exceedingly more stubborn since then. grim tends to be borderline controlling really, and he hates when someone takes control away from him. grim doesn’t like being put into situations where he has to back down and take on the submissive role, and he tends to fight back when someone does try to take over. maybe there is more than just pride and stubbornness involved with this, but it is hard to tell.
defensive -- this fits grim to a t. grim hates when anyone talks bad about himself or his few friends. he reacts quite violently, and he has been known to shout in defense of his friends. he doesn’t accept any bosses, but he has been known to speak out in defense of the ninth stella boss. grim is also defensive when it comes to his likes and dislikes and his overall personality. he hates when anyone tries to make him seem like a harmless girl, so he takes the incentive to make sure that no one every does.
perceptive -- really? yes, grim is actually incredibly perceptive. he notices things beyond what people assume he is capable of noticing. he is quite skilled at reading body language, lips, and the tension around the room. he often just chooses to ignored the signs and continue to act out in whatever violent path he has chosen, but he has at times confronted people on what he has noticed. grim has always been perceptive, but his skills have been improved with his constant sword training as he has to be completely in tune with the things around him to succeed.
secretive -- who would’ve guessed? grim has more than one reason for being secretive though. he doesn’t like to bother people with his own problems, and he doesn’t like pity. he keeps his memory loss a secret from anyone that he considers and enemy. his close friends tend to know more about him than he cares for, and he absolutely hates to let people in. grim keeps secrets in order to keep people away, and he builds up walls of iron to keep himself from getting hurt or forgetting someone else. there are very few people who recognize when grim is lying, so he can easily get away with keeping secrets.
blunt -- this is really no surprise. grim is really quite a hypocrite though. he points out the mistakes, flaws, and secrets of others; yet he wraps himself in a cocoon of secrets and anger. it really isn’t a surprise that grim is blunt and insensitive. the man holds years and years of pain and resentment toward the world within his body, and he takes it out in whatever way he can. foul language, blunt and truthful statements, and violence are the only ways he knows how; so he works and feeds directly off those things.
apathetic -- grim comes off as incredibly apathetic. not many people can see past the emotionless mask decorating his face and see the anguish in his red eyes. grim tends to keep people away and snatch away their confidence. few people can stand his bitter remarks, so he can easily come off as aloof and apathetic. he generally doesn’t care about anything, so this word fits him quite well.
responsible -- grim is actually pretty responsible. he doesn’t let anyone do his work for him, and he tries to meet deadlines. sure, he doesn’t always, and he isn’t the most punctual person around. he tends to get everything done to the best of his ability though, and that is all most can ask for. grim has never lost a job because of his work ethic or because he didn’t take responsibility. he tended to lose jobs because of his violent nature. grim actually takes responsibility for more that just his own messes, and not many people realize this. they all try to peg him as an ignorant, violent, irresponsible man.
intelligent -- childhood knowledge has followed grim even if he can’t ever recall where he learned the different things. grim actually has a pretty high intelligence, but he masks it with his coarse language and violent tendencies. he was a top medical student a few years ago, and he actually as a college degree. grim could easily settle down and become a doctor, but he chooses not too. he also chooses to mask his intelligence from others, but his eyes often express the deep thoughts circling around his supposedly empty head.
compassionate -- this is probably the most surprising thing about grim. no one would ever peg him as a nice guy, but he is pretty compassionate under all his rough, icy layers. grim doesn’t want to let people close, so he reserves his kindness for children and animals. no one near his age or older is gifted with the man’s unique, gruff kindness. they never will, and grim would much rather be seen as the angry fool. he hates people thinking that he has a heart of gold, but he really does underneath everything. it is just buried almost completely from sight.
protective -- grim is incredibly protective; he borders on possessive. grim has always had a great sense of responsibility, and he tends to take almost everyone under his protective wings. he was exceedingly protective of shiki as a child, and he has since grown protective of people like griffin kaizer. others, such as alwyn throne, are greeted by the edge of his blade. grim can be pretty selective with his protective tendencies. though he tends to be much more protective of willowy blondes like shiki and griffin or small children.[/ul]
BRIEF HISTORY.
grim’s life was easy during those early years. he acted as his father’s shadow when not studying some form of combat, and his father made sure to teach him the basics of medicine from an early age. he was expected to take over the clinic when his father retired, and grim looked forward to that day. no one in the village expected it all to go up in flames. all the plans laid out for grim withered away, and grim was left with nothing. it hadn’t even been a freak accident. sotoba had been targeted, and no one knew why.
seven years. grim lived in the village for seven years, and then it all went up in smoke. a group of traveling assassins entered the village and slew everyone before setting the town aflame. grim had been locked away in the clinic cellar by his mother, but he couldn’t escape the flames. he was sure to die along with everyone else, and he wanted that. he was saved by a mysterious man named nora. nora whisked grim away right before the flames could take a hold and devour him. grim could never forgive nora for intervening.
nora took grim in and raised him from then on. grim refused to tell the man his name, so nora dubbed him brat. the two got in arguments almost ever day about the petty nickname, but nothing ever changed. nora continued teaching grim how to fight, and grim slowly began to develop into a strong young man. he studied medicine and the art of swordplay. he was a frightening young man with an even more terrible thirst for battle. he wanted to improve, and he wanted to continue gaining strength. he didn’t care who he had to step on to gain power, and nora didn’t like that. each day nora would knock grim down a few pegs. their life continued in that fashion until grim turned ten.
nothing had been different for a long time, but one day nora came home with a young blonde. the blonde couldn’t have been more than five years old, and grim could tell something horrible had happened. he didn’t need to ask nora. nora tended to pick up strays after all, and the blonde had the look of a stray to grim. the blonde’s name turned out to be shiki hakaru, but grim tried to keep his distance from the blonde. nora wanted the two to act like brothers though, and he forced them into dangerous situations together for years. grim didn’t warm up to the blonde until he was about thirteen though when he knew shiki wasn’t going to disappear anytime soon.
then the unexpected happened. nora kept training grim and shiki for anything and everything. grim had mastered storm flames and the art of both swordplay and hand-to-hand combat. he knew his skill level and potential well, and he knew his duties as the eldest of nora’s “sons.” he thought he knew everything, but he could never have guessed what happened. he, shiki, and nora had gotten into a fight with a small band of fighters. nora, like always, had taken the leader while he and shiki handled the others. shiki had moved away, but grim hadn’t noticed until an anguished cry met his ears. blood red eyes had turned to where nora was, and horror ripped through his body. grim had been twenty-five when shiki killed nora, and he can’t remember a thing about it now.
grim had moved closer to the pair, but the leader struck out at him. he was tossed through the trees and hit his head against a nearby boulder. his vision was blurring right as the group made their escape. he lost consciousness right after they left, and he didn’t regain his senses until days later. the blackette had been moved to a nearby hospital as nearby villagers had spotted the funeral pyre shiki had built for nora. grim opened his eyes and couldn’t remember a thing. he had left that village at midnight, and he just wandered.
the man kept moving. he never stopped. he accepted the role of an assassin-for-hire as his body could remember movements that his mind couldn’t, and he eventually ended up meeting a young griffin kaizer and alwyn throne. the two brought with them a purpose to grim’s life, but the man resents them for it. it was through their influence that grim ended up joining the stella family. it was also through their influence that grim was eventually transferred to namimori, japan. the three of them have a complex history, but grim does still wonder about the memories missing from his conscious mind. he has nightmares of those days after all, but he can never remember them when he wakes up.[/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote]
